An awesome example of a mid-century Japanese novelty liquor decanter, dating to the late 1950s. The piece features a risqué or naughty "pin-up" style figure leaning against a whiskey barrel. Crafted from traditional Japanese red clay (redware), it is finished with a high-gloss brown glaze on the barrel and hand-painted details on the figure.

Made in Japan (Stamped on base).
Glazed ceramic / Earthenware (Redware).
Mid-20th Century (Circa 1955–1960).
Mold-formed with hand-painted "cold paint" accents (face, hair, and clothing) and gold luster bands on the barrel.
Includes the original pink-finished wooden stopper, which is rare to find intact.

7" H x 6" W x 2" D
10.51 oz

This item is in exceptional vintage condition. Minimal to no flaking on the delicate over-glaze paint (eyes, lips, and hairband are vibrant). The gold luster on the barrel hoops is remarkably well-preserved. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Clean; appears to have only been used for display.
