New York: Stein and Day, 1963. NF/VG. First Edition. First printing with no other printings listed. The book is tight with solid hinges and good tips. Small "Plantation Book Shop, Natchez, Miss" sticker on map endpapers. Textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or markings and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. Facsimile signatures on title page and front cover. The dust jacket is unclipped ($4.95) with fading to spine and light wear. Protected in a new Brodart Mylar cover. 192 pages. 5¾ x 8½". Forward by Dore Schary, and nine sketches of primary characters by Sol Baer Fielding.

Originally written by Sinclair Lewis and Dory Schary as a screenplay for MGM (that never got made), it is an allegory of World War II written as a Western novel. The main villain is named Hygatt (Hitler), and his henchmen are Gribbles (Goebbels), and Gerrett (Goering) and features Churchill (Chancel) and Stalin (Slavin).
