Alice in the Metropolis Kindle Edition

Following on from her previous adventures, Alice with her older sister and younger brother spend a short holiday in London with their 'aunt': a lady who is not in fact related to them but is one of their mother's oldest friends. The children are taken by their aunt to visit various places around the City, where they meet a gentleman who tells the children about the Queen, her golden carriage and the unofficial "Queen of the River". On one overcast day, as Alice looks out of her bedroom window, she see the white rabbit, who beckons her to follow him and thus Alice starts a new adventure in which she meets, among various others, a wild beast called and "ayebigum". This beast was of a race that had been hunted to near extinction in the moors of the north country and this last one had escaped from the Tower of London, where it had been held in captivity for public display.
